Description:

The world is more varied and complex than we realize while sitting at home.

Throughout history, people have found different ways to structure their societies. In this course, we will analyze regime types, evaluate sources of power and authority, and investigate how different governments address similar policy, economic, and social challenges. We will be studying the real world to understand how power functions in society.

Objectives:

–  Understand the structures, functions, and powers of various political institutions (e.g., executive, legislative, judicial).

–  Analyze how different nations legitimize their rule, manage political cleavages, and handle economic change.

–  Apply the comparative method to evaluate the success of different government policies on a global scale
