Meets: 2x week for 1 hour, plus asynchronous work

How have people changed, and stayed the same, throughout the centuries?

In the Middle School Social Studies Cohort, 6th-8th grade students will explore different aspects of human history from ancient to modern days. Each semester will be organized around guiding questions such as those above. This course does not focus on rote memorization. Students are encouraged to dive deeply into topics to develop nuanced understanding. Students will develop specific skills such as finding good sources, analyzing information critically, and presenting ideas.

Special Notes: Each year will focus on different essential questions so that a student can attend 6th, 7th, and 8th grade without repeating content. The three-year cycle will include ancient world history, modern world history, and American history.
